Michaela James

Michaela James is an artist who graduated with undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from College of Fine Arts, UNSW. Michaela recently returned to more regular creative painting practice and is currently exploring the relationship between the mundane and the beautiful. What starts out as an everyday object becomes corrupted (hopefully positively) into something beautiful, creating a sense of unreality.

Michaela explores the tensions that can be manufactured between still life objects, abstract concepts and landscape. As these mundane forms become distorted through practice, the result is an ode to the beauty of the unmonumental.

Winner of the Central Coast Artist of the Year 2025 and represented by Bloomfield Fine Art Gallery.
